Reasons to be Thankful You are in The Restaurant Business
by
Todd Lejnieks

1.  Not sitting behind a desk, pushing paper all day long.  Maybe that's for some but not for us.  (I tried it;  I know.)

2.  Get to meet all kinds of people from all walks of life.  Sure, some are obnoxious, but the overwhelming majority are good, kind and appreciative, including rich, poor, CEO's, laborers, entrepreneurs, technogeeks (and even, one strange night in Encino, Dustin Hoffman in my kitchen).

3.  The people we work with are great.  We may argue, complain, and gossip.  But when the warpaint goes on, we are all in the same platoon.  The war?  Making people happy.

4.  We feed people.  A good thing.

5.  Where else can you make a great living, having so much fun, without a college education?

6.  Free food!

7.  Tips!

8.  Trading shifts, flexible schedule, Mondays off!

9.  The guy on table 37 the other week who wasn't going to come back, then talked to me and next time brought in his entire office and is now a regular customer.
