Reservation Pro

We downloaded the free trial version of Reservation Pro, a new product from a new company, Micro Cafe Software, and played around.  We found a simple, easy to use, Windows-based system that will keep track of your reservations.

The Basics:  Reservation Pro has an easy configuration set up that allows you to customize some of the details according to your restaurant set up, including hours of operation, seating interval times, floor section seatings per hour, and dayparts.  You can also choose to include your guest's personal preferences (vegetarian, e.g.) and keep track of "no shows".  Once done with that 15-minute process, you can start using the system to take reservations.

Nice Features:  Numero uno on our "is it worth it?" list is always, "Is it easy to use?".  Reservation Pro's four-choice menu bar and simplistic screens make it approachable by any manager or front desk person.  In contrast to some P.O.S. floor management systems, which look like air-traffic control at LAX during Thanksgiving, RP's interface is child's play.  Additionally, we liked the "personal preferences" tracking, which allows you to keep tabs on your regulars favorite table, ordering preferences or any other detail you want to remember about them.

Drawbacks:  You're going to need a PC at your front desk, and possibly a printer, or be forced to write notes, then transfer information in the back office to fully utilize this software.
