This will always involve large parties, and invariably you will have asked the party before you started taking their order if they WANTED SEPARATE CHECKS. They always say no, and always change their mind when you bring the check. After you spend 13 minutes undoing the check into 16 separate checks, you will encounter one of two scenarios: 1) Everyone will pay you in coins and will leave you a 9% tip (usually large parties of young, clueless women who've had too many margaritas) OR 2) You'll set everyone's check in front of them, only to have Big Ed at the head of the table hand you his Discover card and say "I'm taking care of the bill."
