3 great celebrities that are a pleasure to serve (from Carina):

Denis Leary: He loves to have a comedic rap with staff, is always polite, and, is always willing to say hello to firefighters. One night he was dining with Liz Hurley and Hugh Grant, and after being asked by a table of 5 firefighters to introduce them to Denis, I was nervous about asking him but he enthusiastically agreed to visit their table and take pictures. He always thanks my staff on his way out. A true gentleman. Roger Clemens: He is the exact opposite of his field image. Every time he dines with us, he greets me with a hug and says "good to see you!" When he first pitched for his 300th win, the night before he flew in his entire family, including his mother. He is always gracious, pleasant and overall a really cool guy. Lenny Clarke: Not a well-known celebrity, but a very funny comic from Boston who is one of the nicest and big-hearted people one could ever meet. He always has a great story and remembers members of my staff by name.

From Jillian in Tampa, FL

Linda Blair (Excorcist) - very NEEDY.  And carries a "superstar" heir on her back -- make way for this one! Steven Dorff (Blade, Spacetruckers) -- Very short guy and polite - signed autographs and everything.  However, the monster he was with that night took care of the bill (and that's about all, as she was very cheap on the tip). Pauly Shore was very arrogant and made comments about wanting to know where he could pick up some "chicks"

Bruce Willis and Demi Moore (Las Vegas Mirage hotel and casino) very nice couple big tipper but the best part of that night was Demi breast feeding her baby without covering up. Talk about trying to keep eye contact on that night. - Glen (Las Vegas)

From KnowitallChef

Billy Carter:  Bbq sandwich eater...nice guy...brought friends.
Sen. Sam Nunn:  Meat & 'taters...very cordial.
Gov. Sonny Perdue:  Guy next door...food/drinks/fun..vote for him!big tipper!

RATT:  Out of the cellar!!!..and meek as mice! (big tippers).
"Boston":  To go...ate in bus.
"Alabama":  Sends driver in for 6 on "all you eat" buffet? NO WAY! (Cool bus).
Mohammed Ali:  Ate a HELL of a lot for breakfast in Liberty , NY (years ago).
Jim McMahon:  Nice guy, big tipper.
Little Jimmy Dickens:
Who? well, waitresses like him???

From J.K. in New York
After 10 years working all over Manhattan I've had a few celebrity sightings, here are some:

Morissey (The Smiths): Shy and quiet.  Willing to sign Pastry Chef's cd's.

Natalie Portman:  Sweet and quiet.

Winona Ryder: Surprisingly cheesy-she had a friend who was trying to hard fashion-wise and Winona was very reserved-this is years before the scandal!

Jackie Mason: Very funny.  He had to wait for a table and said, "What're you?  Anti-Semitic?"

Bruce Springsteen: Regular guy who waaay over tips: $100 on a $30 bill.  Nice guy.

Mila Jovovich: Sexy as hell, although a chain-smoker.

Helen Hunt:  So kind and warm and sweet; she asked to use our phone because her cell was not working but she did it like a normal considerate customer would-not like some non-celebrity rude people have treated me!

Michael Palin (Monty Python):  I got his name wrong when taking a reservation and he was charming about it.

Betsy Johnson:  Sweet lady.

Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick:  brought their kids-just a regular family.

Wayne Gretzky and Janet Jones:  also brought their kids-incredibly nice and warm family.

Quick Takes
from Anonymous

Bill Kreutzman (drummer for the Grateful Dead) - Quiet, nice, and always a 30% tip.

Robert Reed (the guy who played Mr. Brady on the Brady Bunch) - Very nice, a bit shy.  Got swamped with waitresses who wanted his autograph, poor guy.  Gave me a tip for boxing up his food to go, even though I was only the hostess at the time.

Eliot Kerman (singer in Rockapella, the group that sang on the kiddie show "Carmen SanDiego") - Very pleasant.  Gave me an autographed tape for my little cousins in addition to the tip....and I hadn't even asked!

Frank Fasi (former mayor of Honolulu) - Rude, loud, demanding, and very condescending to the wait staff.

Linda Lingle (former mayor of Maui, and former candidate for governor of Hawaii) - Extremely nice, very courteous, and always remembered our names, even if she'd only been there 2 months before.

Taj Mahal (blues singer) - Great guy.  Good tip, great vibe, all around nice guy.

The PGA tour - Never again... NEVER!

Shelley Duvall Nice lady.  A little on the freaky side, grilling me on the menu.  Ordered way too much food for herself to eat at Threadgill's in Austin, TX and her agent took most of it home with him.  Adequate tipper. -- T.G.

Scott Baio - Really cool guy, good tipper.  Even laughed when I asked him if his date's name was Joannie. -- Joe
.
Andre Wadsworth (Phoenix Cardinals) - He even took another manager and a server to the Fiesta Bowl a couple of years ago and they certainly got V.I.P. treatment. Regular guest (to go), very courteous and  wish he could pass that on to other Cardinals...
-- Andrew
